Kiernan's Service Station Group Company profile

Kiernan’s Service Station Group commenced business in April 2000 as a forecourt/convenience shop enterprise. Bernie and Philip Kiernan partnered with Texaco Chevron and BWG and began operating the Texaco/Spar on the Dublin Rd just outside Cavan Town.

Their mission was to employ the Deli/ Food To Go Offering as the focus of the business. The growth and development, which followed, resulted in the need to expand the premises. In 2003 two new projects were undertaken. The Texaco/Spar store was extended to double its capacity and running concurrently, the Kiernan’s opened their second Service Station on the Dublin Road.

The Maxol/Mace  brand image was to head this new development.   A new concept in car wash offering and a vast Truck Stop facility would differentiate this expansion process. In keeping with the company’s food offering strategy, the Maxol/Mace would further enhance the concept of Breakfast, Lunch and all day food availability at the Kiernan’s Service Stations.

Experience and confidence in the industry led to a natural progression of further development. Hence, in June 2006, Kiernan’s purchased the Maxol Petrol Station on the Ballinagh Road, the N55 exit from Cavan town. The core deli/food offering with a proven track record of success was the obvious business plan for the Kiernan Group Service Station strategy in this third venture. The immediate introduction of a sit down facility and a partnership with the Spar shop symbol would be Bernie and Philip’s way of branding the shop as their own.

The Kiernan’s are also acutely aware of the need to create individuality and authenticity in each of their stores. They endeavour to meet the needs of their broad customer base by providing a large range of products and services in a friendly atmospheric and customer orientated setting whilst retaining their excellence as a provider of quality food in the convenience sector.
